Professional Magic Tricks and Set Up for the Stage
It is not easy to make a professional-looking stage set up for magic. This involves a lot of meticulous planning and detail. You may be a good party magician, but when you get on to the stage it is a different ball game altogether. You have to know what to project and how to do it. Probably whatever you did so far in small-time parties involved hand sleights and card magic tricks. This will never work on stage. You have to involve a lot of details when you execute a magic show on stage.
Large Props And Visible Things
You have to make everything look large and visible. Unless you do this, your magic tricks will leave a lot to be desired. The attention span of people is what you have to take into consideration. You have to make sure that your magic tricks grab their attention. The magic tricks might be the same as the ones in a small party, but the size of the props have to be large enough for everyone to see. For example if you do the Pull-out-of-the-hat trick, you have to make sure that the hankie or cloth that you pull out of the hat is large, colorful, and visible. Colorful and satin cloths are best for display on large stages.
Cover The Length Of The Stage
You have to make sure that you cover the entire length of the stage. The stage will be long and broad. If you just stand and address the audience in the center, the audience at the sides will feel left out. So even if you are showing them your wand, you have to make sure that you show it to the entire stage. Walk around and address to the entire audience. Remember, it's not just a small audience. You need to keep the entire audience guessing and interested.
Your Position On Stage
Your position on stage is also very important indeed. You need to stand in such a position while performing your tricks that the entire audience is able to see everything clearly.
Advanced Tricks
Now, you simply cannot run a stage performance without advanced tricks and props. You need to have some acts like the disappearing secretary, the Indian rope, or similar acts to keep the audience enthralled. A secretary or assistant who is attractive and well dressed will be an added advantage because she will also provide the necessary diversion and people will enjoy the show a lot more.
Keep it fast and happening. In smaller parties, you have all your props lined up on a center table. But in big and larger stage shows, you need to get the stuff from backstage. You do not want an audience that is bored and waiting for your props. So use moreassistants who are familiar with the routine and will get the right props on stage on time.
Those are the things that every professional magician prepares every time they make show on stage.
